American Comics Live

Okay... real quick. The record should show that I do not hate super hero comics. I loved The Long Halloween, and quite a few in the genre. Kerby and Miller were artistic geniuses who invented the much loved super hero art style. As for what constitutes art, I have a very broad definition of art that would take at least a full rant to articulate, but it's similar to the writings of Scott McCloud: Art is anything humans do that doesn't relate directly to survival or reproduction.

My only negative opinion of the super hero genre comes from my belief that they are so prominent that they drown out everything else. That is all. Beyond that, Seffinga pointed out the holes in my statement very well. A good comic is a good comic no matter what genre.

That's what I ment.
