Nokia vs GBA

I saw this over on Penny Arcade. Then I went over to Game Spot to read it for myself.

"Game Boy is for 10-year-olds," said Ilkka Raiskinen, head of Nokia's entertainment and media arm. "If you're 20 or 25 years old, it's probably not a good idea to draw a Game Boy out of your pocket on a Friday night in a public space."

I'm going to keep this short. Pretty much all the video games I play nowadays are on the GBA. I ride the subway to work every morning, and I always spend the time either drawing, reading, or playing GBA. The games they make for GBA are simply more fun to an old-school 8-bit worshiper like myself than the games being offered on the three big platforms.

Here's one more tidbit for you. I go to dance clubs a lot. More popular dance clubs like VIP or Nation search you before you go in, which means the bouncers quite often inquire about the GBA I was playing on the subway ride to the club. Not only have I never gotten shit about the geek factor, but the bouncers occasionally have mentioned it as pretty cool. Keep in mind these are bouncers, AKA professional high-school bullies. I think that scores some points for the GBA.

So here's my message to Ilkka Raiskinen...

"I'm more punk than you. Blow me."
